About Us

For over 96 remarkable years, Kulala Sangha Mumbai has been working relentlessly to uplift the community through education, social welfare, and compassion-driven initiatives. Established in 1929, the Sangha stands today as a testament to unity, dedication, and service — a beacon of hope for generations of the Kulala community in Mumbai and beyond.

We are a registered charitable organization since 1942, dedicated to promoting education, fellowship, and mutual cooperation among members of the Kulala community.

Our Journey

The Sangha was born from a vision — a vision of togetherness, progress, and empowerment. In the year 1929, a group of selfless and sincere members of the Kulala community in Bombay came together with a shared goal: to create a platform that would promote social and psychological development within the community.

Their efforts led to the formation of “The Canara Moolyara Sangha” on 29th September 1929, at the office of Bombay Berlin Trading Company, with just 19 members and a modest capital of Rs. 34 and six annas.

Over the decades, the Sangha — now known as Kulala Sangha Mumbai — has grown into a respected and trusted charitable institution. Its enduring presence and active service over nearly a century are a reflection of the strong foundation of trust, sincerity, and dedication laid by its founders and carried forward by successive generations.

Our Purpose and Work

The Sangha is a registered charitable trust dedicated to promoting education, fellowship, and mutual cooperation within the Kulala community. Guided by the principles of service and compassion, the Sangha has been actively engaged in several initiatives aimed at improving lives and fostering community spirit.

To ensure better coordination and enhance the reach of its welfare activities, the Sangha has also established six Local Committees that work closely with the main body to carry forward its mission effectively. These committees represent various regions where Kulala families reside, ensuring every member stays connected and involved in community development.
The six Local Committees are:

  • Navi Mumbai Local Committee
  • Mira Road to Virar Local Committee
  • Thane–Kasara–Karjat–Bhiwandi Local Committee
  • Churchgate to Dahisar Local Committee
  • CST–Mulund–Mankhurd Local Committee
  • Mangalore Local Committee

These committees play a vital role in organizing events, supporting local members, and strengthening the bond between the Sangha and its community members spread across regions.
